Using mainly volunteers, we promote initiatives that are inclusive.

We've been supporting students with severe learning difficulties in the South West for a considerable amount of time, and are keen to expand our inclusive philosophy.

Our Projects range from Mini and Junior Barbarian Rugby (supported by the RFU) and Cricket squads, to the delivery of pre entry level community based coursework as well as vocational based qualifications at level two. Here’s a snapshot of our current project base:

  • Sporting initiatives for the whole community, including the mini and junior Barbarians. Mirrored at senior level too, these teams are truly differentiated and boast the support of Premiership rugby clubs. Our teams have representatives from the whole community, including those with special needs.
  • The creative arts are important to us, and in partnership with Hello Interactive, are currently developing a number of performance based projects using technology such as sound beam. You can download a selection of podcasts featuring students utilizing this technology from this site.
  • In conjunction with Bristol Rugby, we are developing a unique delivery of qualifications and awards to the professional playing squad and severely handicapped youngsters. This successful pilot has qualified professional sportsmen with a CCV at level two (Community Certificate in Volunteering) which in turn has provided them with the necessary skills to deliver the pre entry level award to special needs youngsters.
  • We are proud to have linked up with local and national companies to develop sheltered work experience opportunities. These ongoing opportunities for the special needs community have the support of all of our supporters and sponsors.
  • Our commitment to community access is represented by a small fleet of vehicles, all of which are fitted with wheelchair access and include a high dependency facility
  •  We work collaboratively with other charities and organizations to promote inclusive initiatives. Currently we are working with the Long John Silver Trust to promote the rich maritime and literary heritage of Bristol’s harbourside through interactive landmarks.
  • We deliver small grants to promote inclusive activity in our community, such as access to RDA activities and many other creative projects

and much, much more ...
